Millbeck Communications provides flexible Broadband Internet services throughout the UK.
Important changes announced on 6th September 2004 means that Broadband Internet can now be provided for every location connected to an ADSL enabled BT exchange. Previously there was a limitation as to how far from their local exchange a user could be.
There are two services available, one aimed at the small office and residential user, the other for larger businesses.
The service for small offices and residential users provides high speed access with a 50:1 contention ratio with other users.
For businesses with a larger number of users it is more appropriate to use the 20:1 contention ratio service.
Different download speeds are available. The 50:1 service has 512Kbps and 1,024Kbps available whereas the business service also includes 2,048Kbps. The upload speed for each is 256Kbps.
With the ever increasing demand for more bandwidth, some customers require even higher speeds. This can now be provided by using two or more Broadband Internet connections and using a new piece of hardware to 'bond" them together into a single network connection. Alternatively users can now order an SDSL service.
All the services can be accessed by either ADSL Modem or more commonly now, a router. The router means that you can have more than one user connected to the internet at one time. Over the last year, with the advent of more wireless enabled laptops, wireless routers have become very popular. Indeed, a wireless router is now our standard offering.
